Daily Herald: BYU Recruits Update
- Uncoverable: BYU commit Ross Apo (6-4 200 WR) was a nightmare for Fort Worth All Saints all night, rolling up 231 yards on 10 catches in a 55-38 win for Oaks Christian (Texas). Apo scored touchdowns on catches of 41 and 40 yards. Oaks Christian quarterback Thomas Johnson accounted for 442 yards overall (176 rushing, 266 passing).
- Blowout: The rematch of last year's 4A state championship game was all Skyline.
The top team in the state of Washington swatted Issaquah 42-0 as BYU commit Jake Heaps (6-2 195 QB) threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more. He led Skyline to five touchdowns on its first six possessions. The win clinched the league championship for Skyline.
"Our defense is pretty amazing," Heaps told the Seattle Times. "You want to talk about the best defense in the state, they're competing for it."
- Easy win: BYU prospect Harvey Langi (6-1 208 RB) ran for 122 yards on 18 carries and scored two touchdowns in Bingham's 35-7 victory over Riverton. Langi scored on runs of two and 40 yards. 2011 BYU commit Baker Pritchard (6-2 240 DE/TE) added a seven-yard touchdown reception for the Miners.
- Coming through in the clutch: Boaz (Ala.) clinched a playoff spot with a 34-28 double-overtime win over Arab. BYU commit Drew Phillips (6-0 185 RB) scored both overtime touchdowns for Boaz and ended the game on a 10-yard scoring run in the second extra session. He also had a 79-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and rushed 38 times for 188 yards.
