So true...

I love it!!! Bronco’s opening his mouth and putting out some fighting words! We need more of this kind of attitude from Bronco!

actually i see it another way. never give a team locker room motivational material

i think nick saban’s alabama crimson tide learned that lesson the hard way in last years sugar bowl. it’s one thing to say it, it’s another thing to prove it on the field. which max hall will show up vs tcu? the one vs okie or the one vs fsu. nobody likes this when i say this but byu has a loss. i’m pulling for tcu to win remaining games to represent the mwc in a bcs bowl. hopefully another shot at an sec team. just as i told the utah fans it is what is best for the conference. if byu had beaten fsu sure i would want them to romp all over tcu but that is not the case. i told block u the same thing if utah had beaten oregon i would want utah to beatdown tcu. that is not the case. we all want an automatic bid to the bcs right? the more teams the mwc can get to bcs bowls the greater chance we will get auto bid and maybe in five years a shot at a national title. peace out. ramble on!

Um...maybe

In most years I’d agree with you. However, this year, with already a win over Oklahoma, if BYU were to win out they would be going to a BCS game. Boise St. has to lose against Tulsa (or miraculously later on), but, with most of the top teams having a loss and with BYU beating two top-10 teams in one season, and a good Utah team who will be ranked when they play, BYU will find themselves ahead of ACC and Big East leaders in the BCS race.

2 things

1) I truly do not believe in locker room material. If I did, then this certainly wouldn’t qualify as such. BYU has every reason to beat them, they killed us last year. Memories of a broken heart and a thrashed ego go a lot further than a few petty words. While to me they are petty they are HUGE for Bronco! He’s very much an introvert and doesn’t voice his opinion much. This does a lot for our team when they hear there relatively quiet coach open up and inspire his team a bit. This comment goes waaaaay further for our guys then some bulletin board at TCU. Inspiration to beat a team comes from within the team… remember what TCU did all season in preparation for BYU? That’s inspiration!

2) Pull back the reins there cowboy! No matter what happens in any BCS bowl over the next 4 years no wins, losses, or jury is going to change anything with the BCS. We have a signed contract that solidifies that. What’s most important for all Non-Aq schools to do is win the games against BCS schools during the season and the bowls so when 2012 rolls around the MWC (there’s not another Non-Aq conference even close to MWC level) gets the nod. My guess is the BCS committee will require us to kick a couple teams out and bring a couple teams in (i.e. BSU, Fresno, Nevada come in… SDSU, UNM, WYO out) to make us a legit conference (better than Big East, ACC, but equal to Big X, Pac 10 (outside of USC), and Big XII (again outside of UT & OU)). Bowl wins against the big guys are great but the bowl wins against all the rest are waaaay more important.

If TCU ends up winning out and goes BCS and wins then great! If they don’t then I hope their loss comes at Provo. Really our BCS hopes are very much alive. If BYU were to win and (I’m not saying it will happen but I hope) Boise St were to lose then BYU’s in…. even with 1 loss. Shoot, if Oregon were to tank and OU were to pick things back up some analysts think BYU can jump BSU. Boise is as high as they’ll ever make it, their schedule isn’t going to help them move up but BYU’s has tons of potential to make it back into the top 10.

by vaughnzipper on Oct 8, 2009 10:50 PM PDT reply actions

do you really think boise state will lose any of their remaining games?

they will go 13-0. they have an extra game this year. there is nobody on their schedule including a deceiving 4-1 tulsa team that only beat rice by 14-17 points and did not even score vs okie 42-0 loss.they would have to have major injuries to kellen moore and some other key offensive players and dp. i don’t think that will happen. one other problem i see is only are mwc champ gets to play a 5th place pac-ten team. that is the only bowl where we get a chance to play a bcs team and it’s a lose/lose situation. if we win we were supposed to and if we lose the mwc is weak, i rather have tcu go undefeated and they would definitely rise above bsu in bcs poll. who knows if things go really wacky for the acc, big east ,big ten and pac ten i could see both boise and tcu going to bcs bowls. face it the sec and big 12 will get 2 bids. nd will lose to usc and stanford and three losses does not get them in. acc and big east will only get one bid and it would help if usc and ohio state would win the rest of their games and the rest of those teams in those conferences hopefully would have at least 2 losses. that is alot of if’s but it’s a scenario that could play out. tcu and bsu would get the 2 last bids and i don’t think the powers that be would play them against each other b/c we saw it last year and it would look like the supposed big boys were ducking the so called mid level teams. one of them would get a crack at an sec team. peace out. ramble on!

by wolfmanshowlforever on Oct 9, 2009 11:54 AM PDT up reply actions

I don't see BSU losing

BUT I would love to see it happen… especially if it were to happen at home! I really think that if both were to go undefeated TCU would jump BSU because of SOS. Why they started the year ranked ahead of TCU was kind of mind boggling anyways. Both are very good teams and exciting to watch and would come out of a BCS game with a win.

by vaughnzipper on Oct 10, 2009 10:06 AM PDT up reply actions

Odd statement

That statement is odd. The main reason it is because BYU finished third last year and are not the defending champs. If BYU had won the league last year which would have made it 3 straight conference titles then that makes, but they did not so no clue for the reason. Is that show available on podcast, and if so about what time did he say that? I would like to hear how the question was presented and his response.

by Jeremy Mauss on Oct 9, 2009 9:26 AM PDT reply actions

Apparently someone needs to tell Bronco that Utah Plays TCU on November 14th.

It is become obvious that the road to the MWC title goes through TCU this year.

I really think we will see a three way split, unless one of the top 3 lose to someone unexpected in conference.

by utesfan100 on Oct 9, 2009 11:44 AM PDT reply actions

Why?

How is it so obvious the road to the MWC goes through TCU? That’s the advantage that both Utah and BYU have over TCU on alternating years is they get the other two (TCU, BYU at Utah or TCU, Utah at BYU) at home. Since 2006, BYU’s conference home record has been phenomenal: 13-0, with their overall home record during that same time 18-1. So, when BYU gets TCU and Utah at home the championship does, in fact, go through BYU.

by Layton on Oct 9, 2009 12:59 PM PDT reply actions

Not the point

IF BYU was the defending conference title I can understand and agree with his comment, but they finished third. The title most likely will come down to Utah, BYU, and Utah and not soley through BYU.

by Jeremy Mauss on Oct 10, 2009 8:17 AM PDT up reply actions

utesfan100 is forgetting about their loss to CSU on Saturday

Utah playing TCU decides the winner? TCU will handily win that game but TCU may as well be playing SDSU because thats how close that games going to be.

Curious… who do you consider the top 3 in the MWC? The way I see it Utah will lose to BYU, TCU, AFA, and CSU. This year there is only the top 2, the winner of that game goes undefeated in conference and takes the championship. And because that game is being played in Provo “the conference championship will go through BYU.”

Funny thing I heard this week from DJ & PK who are Ute lovers. This week they were talking about how Witt said they were going to “hit the ground running” with the new RB corp they have. Then DJ said the only thing that’s “hit the ground” this year has been Terrance Cains passes. So much for your “star” recruit.

tcu and utah have some serious weather problems this weekend,

especially tcu. the game is supposed to be at 4:30 but i’ll bet it will be closer to 4:45 pm. it will be below freezing the whole game and by the 4th quarter in the 20’s. can’t see them covering 11 points. a guy from colorado informed us that there are ice pellets coming down in fort collons. could be alot of injuries coming if the field is ice coated. still think utah will win b/c utah/colorado have similiar weather. lets hope tcu does not forget some heaters to warm themselves on sidelines. if it comes down to special teams i’ll give tcu the edge. peace out!

by wolfmanshowlforever on Oct 9, 2009 3:48 PM PDT up reply actions

When has TCU ever handily beat Utah?

Whittingham is 3-1 against the Frogs. That lone loss came in 2005, in overtime.

I don’t see TCU handily beating Utah. We’re not BYU, after all. In fact, neither the Cougars or Frogs have been able to handily beat the Utes in a long, long time.

But don’t let the facts get in the way of your bias. ;)

by JazzyUte on Oct 9, 2009 6:23 PM PDT up reply actions

utah just beat csu which i said would be close and you said we would lose. still sticking with a lose to air force

won’t mention byu game. i already know what you think. tell me what you think the score will be and i will tell you mine. that is fair enough.

by wolfmanshowlforever on Oct 11, 2009 11:59 AM PDT up reply actions

Lay off your bowl of sugar

and realize that this years Frutes are nowhere close to prior years and that this years TCU is much better than any team they’ve ever had. To top it all off the game will be in Ft Worth. Far from the comforts of your tiny stadium.

I do see TCU “handily” beating Utah… 34-7. Cain blows and you have no running game going up against the #1 rushing defense in the nation. So much for the spread O.

I do agree with you though, you are not BYU. We will beat AFA, TCU, and You… not to mention that we also beat CSU, something Frutah won’t do.

FYI, I hear Jazz season tickets are still on sale. Give yourself something to look forward to and pick some up.

byu will not beat tcu

max hall throws at least 2 interceptions and gets sacked 4 times and hurried 9 times courtesy of jerry hughes and daryl washington. the crack on the stadium is uncalled for too. i have been to 25 fbs stadiums. utah’s stadium is better than all of them. rice eccles stadium is not only an olympic stadium it is the only place you can see peaks over 10,000 feet on both sides of the valley. the wasatch front (east)and the oquirrhs (spelled close enough, west) while watching a college football game. when espn or sporting news ranks the stadiums they only go on tradition and how big they are. ever been to the swamp. it’s a piece of zhit. i have been to cougar stadium. it’s better than alot of stadiums but the mountains are not as pretty in provo. when they played that tcu game last year that place was louder and more electric when they won than any stadium i have been in. the only place i could compare it to is husky stadium when they beat usc a few weeks ago. i like the whole mountain west conference. tcu is by far the best team and will go undefeated. game vs airforce will be tricky b/c weather will be very cold(mid 20’s by late second quarter) and snowing last time i checked. byu had their chance vs fsu. they blew it. utah had their chance at oregon they blew it. i want tcu to represent the mwc in a bcs bowl game. preferably vs an sec team. peace out. ramble on!

by wolfmanshowlforever on Oct 9, 2009 10:16 PM PDT reply actions

What?

I need to start off by saying that I think vaughnzipper was alluding to the smallness of the Utes’ stadium, and their difficulty in even filling up 45,000 seats, while BYU sells out every game at a 65,000 seat stadium. He’s not knocking on the stadium…
Now, you said TCU’s stadium was “louder and more electric when they won than any stadium i have been in.” Really? Now I know you’re lying that you’ve never been to a Utah game or BYU game. I, myself, have been to some TCU games and I’ll say that they have about 20,000 fans who half-fill a stadium. Not loud. Not electric. However, their Horned Frog blower is loud and electric.
In any event, this is off topic. Until a conference team can beat BYU at home the championship does go through BYU on the years TCU and Utah play in Provo.

Rice Peckers Stadium is better than BYU's?

Wolfman has finally come out of the closet… he’s a FRUTE! Wolfman, you and all your Frutes are the only people in all of college football that would say that your stadium is better than BYU’s. The setting in Provo is far more gorgeous because you can actually see the 10k ft peeks from inside the stadium… all you can see from yours is the small little rollers.

You’ve clearly never been to Colorado Springs. Hands down the #1 stadium in the MWC, and in my top 10 for the country. Absolutely gorgeous setting!

i reread my post. it mentions the utes first. i guess i should have been more clearer

but it’s obvious to me that i was talking about the utah/tcu game. byu / tcu did not have as much meaning as the undefeated utah team beating a ranked tcu team. look at my profile and you will see i have forty college football blogs. the most comments are on boise state’s blog. dose that make me a traitor to the mwc? then the mtn west connection. byu and utah are close(in terms of posts) in comments. let there be peace on earth and college football.

your link makes my point on studiums too. 6 sec teams in top 10.

scenery is the most important factor to me and it’s not even listed. all about history and tradition. by the way i just love looking at the remnants of geneva steel factory and that polluted lake which the government says has contaminated fish. it’s 4-5 miles west of your stadium ususally the government goes out of their way and says “there is no contamination here” did you eat any on friday?
bang your chest for your number 20 something ranking? since we are nit-pickers here rice eccles can hold 46,768 people. so in essence you lied. yes you found out the truth i am a fan of utah by just a little. kinda like your score vs florida state. lol! if i’m watching correctly on my tv screen i see va tech. dismantling of b.c. boston college beat fsu. what does that say about byu? peace to my fellow mwc brothers. ramble on!

Wolfman...C'Mon Man!

Before you start downing BYU because of a bad game against Florida St., make sure your Utes aren’t tied 3-3 in the 3rd quarter with CSU, a team BYU beat by 3 touchdowns. What does that say about the Utes?
Man, seriously, every team has a bad game. It’s how you finish, you know that!

it might have to do with the horrible weather conditions.

same with tcu. i’ve got the under in both games. written yesterday and this morning. atmosphere has more to do with fan enthusiasm then scenery. now your making comments for me. when did i say boise state had any scenery at all. i like the blue smurf turf. now your buddy can put up another link b/c i won’t do your homework for you. boise state bar none has the greatest home field advantage. yes they do play in the weak wac but i don’t see any sec, big 12 or any other bcs schools knocking down the door to play in boise. i wonder why. i’ll tell you, even against the upper elite(outside the top four teams in the land) boise would win outright or it would be a great game. btw boise state university is by far the best covering team in the last 11 years. it’s not even close anymore. already 4-0 this year and if you count the bowl game vs tcu last year that they lost by a point but were getting +3 that would make 5-0. that is the only game boise state has lost to the mwc. remember you great kicker when they played in boise last time. he missed the fg and boise won. before you think i’m a greater wac fan then a mwc fan i tell the boise people when tcu goes undefeated they will pass boise in the bcs rankings. they don’t particular like that. already today two time in front of byu have lost. byu has two easy games before they play tcu. tcu should beat airforce today but not by much with the weather around 25 degrees gametime and in the teens by the 4th quarter. i’m a very fair man. i did say utah messed up vs oregon. so yes i want tcu to go undefeated and represent the mwc in a bcs bowl vs a sec team. that does not go well with the utah crowd either. i just call it as i see it. look at my profile. you can find numerous comments i have put on blogs that did not make the people happy.

it’s a money thing first. 17-17 now and utah just intercepted. why do you think i told you about the money express boise state was. tcu 7 af 0. looks like a good day for me. read corn nation we had nebraska and the under. it was one of the worst rain storms i have ever scene. can’t erase what i posted. it’s all there in black and white with days and times. ramble and scramble on. if you guys need any help with point spreads and over/unders i’m here for you. i am a humanitarian first and foremost.

amtrak stops right in south bend. south bend and knoxville tenn. are two of the ugliest cities i have ever seen. then there are five more sec teams in top 10-12. it’s all about history and tradition. every sec stadium i have been in was ugly and had no scenery at all. have not been to texas am’s stadium so i can’t say much but i know they don’t have mtns even close to the size of utah’s. most likely a little hills everywhere. how did they get to be number one at all. b/c of the 12th man. another atmosphere thing : fan allegiance b/c there team has sucked for years and there dumbazz fans still fill up the stadiums. not much to do in college station i guess. they got smoked by arkansas last week too and will end up 6-6. peace out ramble on!

BYU = NC... 1984 the year of my birth

Just like your Frutes, BYU has finished in the top 12 multiple times in the last 25 years. You guys have 2. The difference between ours and yours is this ridiculous system wasn’t around. Besides, what’s so special about hanging the “we’re #2 banner” in your stadium?

BYU does have the series in the last 26 years of my life… 25 games thus far. 14-11. Yes, my friend peterthewolf, I have had less pain and more joy than you and your girls.

actually you forgot the year utah beat arizona i think in cooper bowl

there best player was defensiver player luther ellis. they ended up # 8 that season. i’m only counting the bcs years as that is the system we are stuck with. i bring the smack talk to alabama last year when they made all sort of excuses of the pathetic play of their team and the great play of a very motivated utah team. alabama still considers it a nuetral site. technically right, but we all know that was a home game for them. there still mad they won’t be able to beat florida again and might get stuck with another mwc team(tcu) there also pissed they were on probation for a couple of seasons. tcu has two national championships. yes they were not in the mwc but either was byu’s. they won them in the 1950’s. sammy baugh was one of the qb’s for that team. peace out!

If scenery is so important to you than why are you a BSU fan?

The lives and “scenery” of your Boise brethren are so sad that they had to add the only color that’s not a shade of brown and create that nasty smurf turf. BTW, the first column in the link was “Atmo”, meaning atmosphere. Meanining scenery, fans, etc. Check it again my WAC bro.

The funny thing about your comment is that lake you critisize flows the same water as your precious Salt Lake. Me personally I’d rather look out at Geneva (only from the NE corner, if at all) then to have to look out to Tooele and West Valley.

BTW, how did we lie about your stadium? Is 46k supposed to be a lot?

your on only one blog on your profile. this one.

i know alot more about college football then you would ever know. my comments on my bets yeasterday on on any of the blogs i write. let see. i had the under for both tcu and utah game b/c of weather conditions. they were horrendous for all four teams. easily won those two bets. i have had boise state all season long. they are 4-0 vs spread (best covering team in the nation the last eleven years) you can bring up a link from covers.com if you want. i’ve latched on to idaho vandals. the last four games b/c i liked their qb and they started 2-0 vs spread. now the are 6-0 spread. we had nebraska and the under in the mizzou game on a parlay. it heavily rained the whole game and nebraska scored four td’s in fourth quarter. i could go on and on but my comments would take up alot of space. considering i bet on half the college football games every week. if you want me to tell you where these prediction are i will. just look at last two comments on corn nation (nebreaska blog) i only have about five comments on the whole blog. the boise state blog is full of my predictions with dates and times. some are on this very page and the utah page. byu by the way is 4-1 vs the spread and when they put up 52 to 55 on new mexico they will be 5-1 vs spread. i think i saw only about 25 comments for you all on this blog. i like byu. i just like utah a little better. i’m the only one looking out for the future of the mwc b/c i want tcu to run the table. there the only one who can get the bcs bid with a 12-0 record. t. cain you have to admit is getting better every game and it’s only his 5th start. it was a great comeback and i do believe the utes will go 11-2. i think if jake heaps is the real deal and he is recruiting some of his own players and some of his peers to goto byu with him. hopefully he is the real deal and not another ben olsen. my life is good and if you like smack bring it on! i believe layton gets it and i think you do to but banter and smack are part of college football and i for one like it. i never curse either. i try to be a little clever about things. peace out. scramble and ramble on!
