Hell Froze Over: Josh Quezada Picks BYU
Standout running back, Josh Quezada, out of California's La Habra High, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Cougars in 2010.
From video I've seen, "Q" is a legitimate mix of Ronney Jenkins (fast and shifty) and Harvey Unga (power). ESPN describes him as "the complete package", while Scout.com has him listed as the 58th best back in the nation. Apparently, Jake Heaps has been texting him daily to persuade him, and the coaches "really made a connection" with him and his mother.
Quezada, a 6-foot, 210-pound senior, finished 2009 with 2,265 yards and 24 touchdowns and averaged 162 yards a game.
In the following video, if you only have time to watch 20 seconds, I'd highly recommend skipping to 2:15...

Luke Stailey II?
Here’s a local link. Just to put his championship into perspective, winning a CIF Southern Section Championship is like winning a 5-A state title in Utah. He’s not playing cupcakes. California is just too big to pull the multiple championships into a state tourney… man I wish they would though.
I think more than any other back he runs most similarly to Luke. Like ESPN and Scouts say he’s not overly flashy, he hits his holes and he hits them fast (ie watch the video at 1:30, look familiar to the Staley run against Utah?). Holy crap the run at 2:15 is insane! Or how about the plowing he does at 5:00?! He’s very much a north and south runner with a lot of power!
Check out his stats on the year. This kid is a beast!
I think my favorite part with all of this is how bad Utah wanted (needed) this kid! I guess he stayed true to his blue roots!
