Should Harvey Unga sit on Saturday?

Reports this morning are indicating that All-MWC RB Harvey Unga might not play again this weekend in New Orleans. Obviously, the Cougars were able to manage against the Sooners without him.  Bryan Kariya was excellent in Unga's stead last week and there's no reason why you wouldn't expect the same against the Green Wave.  Still, there might be some benefits to Unga getting a few reps against Tulane before meeting the Seminoles in Provo.

Unga was projected to be Max Hall's primary offensive weapon in 2009.  He needs just 833 rushing yards to pass Curtis Brown (3,221) as BYU's career rushing leader. Unga also trails only Dennis Pitta (1,083) in career receiving yards on the current roster.

What do you think?

Yes, if he's medically cleared put him out there...

No, Kariya, and the others will be sufficient. Make sure Unga is 100% for the Florida State game...

He is definitely out for Tulane

At least that is what i heard from his younger brother who is on the team. Take it for what it is worth.

Thanks sam

Wrubell reported this morning that Unga would be a “game-time decision”…

If he's cleared, I don't think it would be a bad idea to give him a series or two

in live competition before FSU. But the vast majority of the touches should be with Karlya.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

i agree maybe 5 or 6 carries.......

just so he see’s real game time situation. i think byu should pour it on in the first half and then let the second string play most of the second half as long as it’s a 24 point lead. let’s be healthy for fsu at cougar stadium. it sucks that fsu lost to miami but it came down to the last play. another thing i already here from the peanut gallery, saying if oklahoma loses five games our win ain’t worth much. i say we knocked out their heisman qb and gresham is down for the year. that is their two best weapons. the win still is big regardless of what okie does the rest of the season. peace.

I'm down with giving him some minor garbage minutes

if he’s cleared by the team’s physicians…but bottom line is they obviously don’t need Unga to win this game…
