Frosh lead BYU over UTEP, 83-77

The Cougars won again on the road, against a team with a decent record mind you, and this time it was without their best player - who also happens to be one of the best guards in the country.  With Fredette and his 20 PPG out with mono, Haws and Davies stepped up big time down by the border.  The two freshman combined for 34 points, 12 boards and 3 assists while shooting 67% (10/15) and 81% for the line (13/16).  Of course Haws had the double-double and is now averaging nearly 12 PPG along with 4.8 RPG and shooting .375 from behind the arc. Nice stats for a senior...except the baby faced vampire has only been in Provo for a few months.  Yowzah!

PS - Very nice game for JT as well: 19 points (on 7 of 12 shooting) and 6 boards in only 17 minutes.  Look out MWC!

Cougs Crush Utes; Jimmer No Factor

Any doubts have been squashed!

BYU is the best in the MWC. Not New Mexico. Not SDSU. Not UNLV. BYU is the best in the MWC…. with or without Jimmer. They step up when he’s out and they elevate their game when he’s in. Should be a great year for Cougar fans!

Now the question is will they run the table? I like our chances if Jimmer gets his health back.

No more

Without question, BYU is the best team in the league. Even Andy Katz admitted as much in his column this morning….
I can’t see the Cougars losing anymore than 3 games the rest of the way, and very easily may not lose again until the conference tournament.
