Fredette, Cougars beat Aztecs
Jackson Emery, Jonathan Tavernari and Brandon Davies combined for 7 points and 19% shooting. The Cougars were out rebounded, had fewer assists and fewer steals than San Diego State. BYU only shot eight free throws total.
And they still won...on the road...again.
Make that 15 straight and a nation-leading 20. Jimmer Fredette just ordered some glass slippers from Eastbay...

Abouo
Dude is making a serious case for Tavernari’s minutes. His line from tonight:
11 minutes, 4 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block and 0 turnovers…
It’s incredible how so many guys can have sub-par games and this team is still good enough to win…if Emery struggles Abouo comes up huge…if Haws struggles then Tavernari starts connecting…etc.

Isn't our bench awesome?!
That should help us come March.

In other news...
Utah State won their 5th straight today and are now atop the WAC with Louisiana Tech…and the latter still has to go to Logan. Makes the Cougars look better…

Not last year's team
Our play thus far has got a lot of people thinking we’ve got a chance to break through the first round barrier come tourney time…something that hasn’t been done since ‘92-93. As long as we stay on top of the conference, I’m comfortable that the committee will seed us favorably — ie. something higher than an 8 seed. When’s the last time we were seeded higher than 8? It all goes back to the last time we won an NCAA tournament game in ‘93. Here’s to hoping.

ESPN's bouncing us between 4 and 5 so far...
with wins at SDSU, NM and UNLV the Cougars could move up even higher—certainly not 1, but 2 or 3 is possible.
