BYU TKOs the Rams
I'm starting to wonder if this whole college basketball thing is getting too easy for Jimmer Fredette. If not, he could be a serious contender for a Naismith in 2011. But, who's looking that far into the future?
The Cougars crushed Colorado St, 92-70, behind Jimmer's 36 points. I don't need to say more, but... this season seems like just one warm up game after another as BYU continues to demolish teams. I'd be shocked, at this point, if they don't run the table heading into the conference tourney...

Running the table...
Likely, but may be tougher than it looks. SDSU is a pretty good team. We’ve got to be alert for that game. Utah, again, shows they can play, by completing the sweep of UNLV tonight. At Utah will be a tough one. But we can pull it out.
At home against New Mexico is THE game. Getting a 1 seed is important – although it looks like both SDSU and UNLV will end up with an 11-5 record. They split this year – what are the rules for who gets the higher seed? This is a big deal for us. I’d MUCH rather face SDSU on our side of the bracket.

Seeding Policies
I see:
Two Way Tie. If two teams tie for a position, and one holds a win-loss advantage during regular season play, that team receives the higher seed. If the two teams split their games during the regular season, each tied team’s record shall be compared against the team occupying the highest position in the standings, continuing down through the standings until one team gains the advantage, thereby gaining the higher seed. If two teams remain tied after all tie breakers have been exhausted, the last tie-breaker when determining seeds for the Conoco MWC Basketball Championships shall be team RPI, as determined by the most recent NCAA RPI available on Saturday, March 6, 2010.
Assuming we beat SDSU at home, that means UNLV will get the 3 seed. That means we face SDSU in the semis, rather than UNLV. SDSU is no picnic, but UNLV has our number, especially at the T&M. IF we had beat UNLV on their court, I believe it would have come down to the fact that UNLV got swept by Utah, so SDSU would have gotten the 3 seed. In other words, because we lost at UNLV (or because UNLV lost at Utah tonight), we don’t have to face UNLV in the semis.
Nevertheless, we have a tough road ahead before we get screwed on Selection Sunday.

That is interesting...
I figured they would have just taken the team with the better overall record…
About Selection Sunday: I’m thinking, if BYU doesn’t win the MWC tourney, even if winning the regular conference, they slip to around a 6-seed. It would be too bad, but “too bad” is what usually happens to BYU on Selection Sunday.

Yeah
They definitely overvalue the Conference Tournament… especially when it’s a bunch of HOME games for UNLV. And even when we’re not playing UNLV – all of their fans are there cheering against us. It’s like a hostile away game there – no matter who we’re playing. (except that first game as a 1 seed, because it’s in the early afternoon when the annoying Rebels fans aren’t here yet).
So yeah, I agree that a 6 seed is quite plausible if we lose the MWC Tourney. It’s not enough that we dominate the whole season and only lose a couple away games that we’re supposed to lose. Kinda stupid if you ask me.
I’m also worried about our SOS. The committee will find any reason it can to seed us lower.
My swag was phenomenal.
