Awards in abundance for Cougars
Jimmer Fredette - All-MWC First Team
Jackson Emery - All-MWC Second Team, All-Defensive Team
Jonathan Tavernari - All-MWC Third Team, 6th-Man of the Year
Tyler Haws - All-MWC Third Team
The Defensive Player of the Year award went to David Foster of Utah. Foster is 5th in the nation in blocked shots and 748th in defensive rebounds. Meanwhile, Jackson Emery is 2nd in the nation in steals and averages 3.6 defensive rebounds per game compared to Foster's 3.3 average. Just sayin'.

Pretty lame
Unfortunately Jimmer’s poor health cost him the player of the year. It was his all the way until the mono hit then the virus. I’d still take JF anyday over DH head to head.
Emery got jacked! Foster won the award because he’s 10 feet tall. I’d much rather have steals than blocked shots because that sets up the transition game…. which BYU is ranked top honors with.
whoever invented
the idea that the player of the year HAD to come from the team that finishes in first place needs to get kicked in the nuts. i really hate this trend in basketball, football, baseball. its gotten ridiculous.
and all i can say is wow, Foster’s steals average just went up, cuz he robbed Emery
