Hearing if A&M passes on Pac-10, Utah has edge on Kansas as potential 16th member."

No
because Baylor would essentially become the lone religious institution in that conference and the Pac 10 would already have access to the Dallas market via Texas. Adding the Salt Lake market to compliment the Denver one seems like a logical fit and both Utah and Kansas are more successful athletic programs than Baylor.
What's wrong with religious affiliations, Baylor would be #2.
I mean after all, Berkeley is atheist. That’s a (sac)religion in and of itself.
Nothing necessarily wrong with religious affiliations
and I know you are at least partly joking, but Baylor simply isn’t a school that would match the “research” university label carried by the current Pac 10 schools and Colorado. Utah would appear to meet such criteria and so does Kansas, though to a lesser extent.
If it all goes down, I would be shocked if Baylor didn’t end up in either the WAC or Conference USA, as the MWC appears set on only expanding to 12 schools (if expanding at all) and those would presumably come from the following: Fresno State, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, and Nevada. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but TCU is against Baylor joining the MWC and having to share the Dallas/Ft. Worth market with a far inferior football program. I also think Iowa State joining Conference USA or even the MAC is more likely than the MWC…
