West Coast Conference Quick Stats
BYU is on its way to making a new home in the West Coast Conference - so who are they exactly? The WCC is currently made up of 8 schools from California, Washington and Oregon, all of which are private and maintain religious affiliations, like BYU.
Currently the WCC competes in 6 sports for men; baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis and 7 sports for women; basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer, tennis, volleyball. What many don't know is that schools that were previously in the WCC include Fresno State, UNLV and Nevada.

Quick Question
What kind of impact do you think Charles Abouo will make next year for you guys? What kind of minutes do you see him playing? I notice he is representing the Ivory Coast in the FIBAs and was wondering what his role was going to be this season. Thanks!
He is expected to start at the 3...
The Cougars lost both of the guys ahead of Abouo on the depth chart last season – Tyler Haws (LDS mission) and Jonathan Tavernari (graduation). A lot will be expected of Abouo from both coaches and fans. He has been the most athletic player on the team ever since he enrolled, so now, with the experience of the past couple years coupled with his FIBA involvement, he will have a chance to really contribute. In the past he has been a bit foul-prone and his perimeter shot has left a lot to be desired. I know he has worked on his jumper a lot though so we’ll see how he does with more shooting opportunities in 2010-11. His rebounding and transition game are already major strengths.
As of today, you can expect a starting lineup of: Fredette, Emery, Abouo, Hartsock, and Davies.
Oh
In regards to the post, I like the move to the WCC (for basketball at least). As a neutral fan, I am excited to see the BYU-Gonzaga matchup twice (or 3 times when you meet each year in the conference championship) each year.
Voted "other"
Seriously I don’t get it. Why a leave a conference on the brink of AQ status?
Oh, money?
Oh, okay. I get it now.
What do the say the ‘love’ of money is?
Oh, right. carry on.
I'm always right. Your Welcome.
You are delusional
If you really thought the MWC would get AQ status. The other conference commisoners would have to vote on it anyways. With BSU TCU and Utah it was still a long shot. When Utah left, it pretty much put the death nail on the idea.

“58 percent of BYU alumni live in four states covered by WCC: California, Oregon, Washington and now, Utah.” – Jay Drew, Salt Lake Tribune
They may be smaller schools, but in terms of markets I’d take Portland over Albuquerque, Spokane over Laramie and the Bay Area (though second fiddle to the Pac 10 schools) over Fresno or Reno. It will be nice to visit schools with more class than SDSU, for instance.
I'm looking forward to being able to go to some BYU basketball games, and maybe other sports.
I’m in the Bay Area, and we get to go to men’s volleyball games at Stanford every year, but that was about it. There are a ton of BYU fans in this area. No doubt the WCC teams will sell more tickets when BYU comes to town.
I know
“There are a ton of BYU fans in this area.”
I am one of them as well and I’d rather go to Santa Clara, Moraga or SF than Fresno…I think it will be hard to get a seat sometimes…
What part of the Bay Area are you in?
I’m in Sunnyvale, so the Santa Clara games are really close. I don’t actually know where Moraga is, though.
Moraga is just south/west of Walnut Creek
Probably a little less than an hour drive north for you (up 880), depending on traffic. (If you took BART you’d have to get on in Fremont and get off in Orinda…) SMC’s campus is probably only 15 or 20 minutes from the Oakland Temple.
I’m actually in Sacramento…
