PROVO UT - SEPTEMBER 1: Large signs hang outside Lavell Edwards Stadium where it was announced that BYU football will become independent in 2011 separating from the Mountain West Conference September 1 2010 in Provo Utah. The remaining BYU sports will become affiliated with the West Coast Conference in 2011. (Photo by George Frey/Getty Images)
Stadium Journey, one of the most-underrated sites on the internet, visited LaVell Edwards Stadium on the final game of the regular season to hand out an assessment of the game-day experience. Stadium Journey is dedicated to visiting stadiums throughout the country and assigning an assortment of critical ratings in areas such as Atmosphere, Access, and fan support. I really enjoy Paul Swaney's work. Seeing that it was the final game of the regular season, which meant a match-up with New Mexico State, I think the ratings are fair for the circumstances and would imagine LES would get better ratings SJ to return for a game against a better opponent.
SJ's synopsis of its experience at LaVell Edwards Stadium:
LaVell Edwards Stadium is a fine facility, and offers a suitable game day experience. Many of the improvements suggested here are already reportedly in motion or will come naturally as BYU is able to attract more quality opponents to Provo. In doing so, the school can better position itself to leave a greater impact on those being regularly exposed to the program for the first time.
