Podcast 55: Debating the big issues in Cougar sports
In Episode 55, Adam moderates a discussion between fellow VTF writers Matt Mangum and Zach Bloxham regarding all the biggest issues facing the BYU athletic program. They start by talking about WCC officiating and whether Brandon Davies is overrated by BYU fans. They flip flop next on conference realignment, and answer the question of whether you can trust anyone (spoiler: probably not). They finish with a discussion on who the back-up QB will be in 2012, and who the starter will be in 2013. All this and much more, including Adam's failed attempts at political humor. On Brandon Davies:
He’ll be good. But if you look at Hartsock as a senior this year — Davies needs to return for his senior year. Most definitely. If he does that, I think his progression will be there

To be a pro. He’s got the body/skill set to be an NBA player, more-so than Hartsock at least. I think he could be a pro. Gotta keep working on it though.

Non-QB Impact Recruits
Matt is with me on Josh Weeks. My picks would be Weeks and Butch Pau’u.

Right to Be Informed
Just listened to the podcast. Trust nobody on realignment. As for a right to know, there is no risk of losing donors through keeping things close to the chest. As Adam said, the donors may care about the ultimate results, but failing to keep people informed about the stage of negotiations will not cause donors. In fact, by not talking about it before an official announcement, BYU officials protect themselves from that type of donor loss, because the rich donors will never fully know if BYU rejected a good offer. Great job, guys!
Very good points on donors. I would agree on “trust nobody on realignment” except in the case of Brett McMurphy of CBS. He’s been dead on in every case, nation wide.

A little warning...
McMurphy has been very good. But journalists have a way of getting cocky, and sources have a way of getting shut up. I would trust him, but I would trust no journalist 100%.
