BYU Hoops Temperature Check: Feb 14

How in love with BYU are college basketball's experts and bracketologists on this Valentine's Day? Here's this week's temperature check to see where the Cougars currently stand.

Star-divide

CHRIS DOBBERTEAN, SB NATION

11-seed v. (6) Creighton in Albuquerque. (Last week: 12-seed narrowly escaping the play-in game.)

JOE LUNARDI, ESPN.com

11-seed v. (6) Creighton in Albuquerque. (Last week: 11-seed.)

JERRY PALM, CBS SPORTS

12-seed play-in game (Last Four In), vs. (12) Central Florida, for the right to play (5) Temple. (Last week: 12-seed play-in game.)

ANDY GLOCKNER, SI.com

11-seed v. (6) Creighton in Albuquerque. (Last week: 11-seed.)

MID-MAJOR TOP 25

#9 (Last week: #11)

KEN POMEROY

#31 (Last week: #34)

* * * * *

There was little movement from last week, which is to be expected when the team only plays one game against a terrible conference opponent. But, our SB Nation friend Chris Dobbertean did move the Cougars up to the 11-seed which is the obvious consensus. Jerry Palm still has BYU in a play-in game. Looks like BYU has just a little more work to do.

Give me Creighton or Temple. VERY favorable matchup for the Cougars.

Exactly what I thought. I’d take Creighton in the first round. That would be lovely. No hate on Creighton, just a good matchup.

Beggers can't be choosers

I realize as a 10-13 seed (we hope), that we can’t be picky. I totally agree with you on that these matchups are favorable, but I differ from most in wanting to see a former MWC foe in round 2. As much as I love this team and its potential (I hate that I’m using that word this late in the season), anyhow…I want NO PART of SDSU or UNLV. We can save our warm friendlies for another year, I’ll pass this March cuz that could get ugly.

Haha. I understand that, but I think it would be sweet. BYU would definitely not be favored in those matchups.
