Another former Cougar is on his way to the NFL. Former BYU safety Daniel Sorensen has agreed to terms with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Former BYU safety Daniel Sorensen has agreed to terms on a undrafted free agent deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.  The star safety for the Cougars started off his career in 2008 as a freshman that played in 12 games for the stellar Bronco Mendenhall defense.  He took two years off from football as he served an LDS mission in Costa Rica before coming back and played in every game from 2011-2013.

As a leader of the Cougar defense, he not only exceled on the defensive side of the ball, but he made a name for himself on special teams.  Sorensen was initially thought to be a late seventh rounder or even a free agent before the combine, where he earned some well deserved praise and teams began to look at him.

Sorensen will never shy away from making a tackle while sacrificing his body for the team.  He will excel in the special teams game in order to earn playing time on the defensive side of the ball.  He is sound with his reads and has a knack for jumping the ball, although he may have a more difficult time defending some of the faster receivers.  It isn't to much of a stretch to imagine him earning a position on the special teams squad and finding himself in a position to make a name for himself.

Take a look at the videos below to see his special teams and defensive highlights.

Congratulations to Daniel Sorensen for taking the next step in his career and Cougar fans everywhere will be paying close attention when he is on the field.
