The West Coast Conference held its media day on Monday, which included the release of the preseason poll and all-conference team as voted on by the coaches. BYU was picked to finish second in the WCC behind Gonzaga. The Cougars received one first-place vote and narrowly edged Saint Mary's for the second spot.

Despite ten players appearing on the WCC preseason all-conference team, only Brandon Davies appears on the list from BYU.

Also of note, the conference announced a TV partnership with Time Warner Sports in Los Angeles. Time Warner is the new rights-holder of the L.A. Lakers, and will now feature a WCC game of the week every Saturday during conference play. BYU's road game at Santa Clara on January 12, 2013 is featured in the game-of-the-week lineup. This is a very good thing for the conference as a whole, and it sounded like it would open the door to simulcasting of BYUtv broadcasts on some occasions as well.
