September 23, 2011 BYU played UCF in Provo. An anemic offense was unable to score a touchdown until midway through the third quarter, but UCF was quick to answer with another touchdown of their own with just under four minutes left in the third quarter, going up 17-10. Sophomore Cody Hoffman fielded the kickoff at the 7-yard line and returned it 93 yards for the touchdown. You have to go back to October, 1998 for the last time BYU had done that. It was the spark the offense and the fans needed. The Cougars won the game 24-17.
