Not many punter's have the size of a linebacker, but at 6'4" and 234 pounds #38 Matt Payne did have that size. Payne kicked and punted for BYU from 2001-2004. As a kicker Payne had a 73.9 percent completion rate (54-73 field goals made) with long field goals of 50, 52, and 53 yards. Payne set a couple kicking records along the way: 14 consecutive field goals between 40 and 49 yards and school record 67 consecutive PATs. His career PAT completion rate was 95.2 percent (150-156). As a punter Payne had 8,713 career punting yards on 192 punts with an average 45.4 yards per punt. His longest punt was 79 yards. In 2004 Boise State Bronco Chris Carr found out just how hard Payne could hit.
