Butch Jones will interview for the Colorado head coaching position on Monday, and CU is ready to pitch Jones with a large contract and program improvements.
According to Woody Paige of the Denver Post, Colorado is prepared to offer Jones, current head coach for the Cincinnati Bearcats, a contract of five years and of more than $13.5 million dollars, which is at least $2.7 million per year. According to Paige, Jones will listen to a pitch and a promise to upgrade Folsom Field and the Colorado athletic facilities. He will also meet with CU basketball coach Tad Boyle and the school's top booster, an oilman named George Solich.
It appears that the impressive pitch and list of people Jones will meet indicates that Jones is CU's top target. His meeting with Colorado comes a day after a report stating that Bronco Mendenhall has met with Buffaloes brass about the open position as well.
