Max Hall and his fellow Baby Birds had one last chance to prove they are worth putting on the 53 man roster which gets paired down this weekend for NFL teams.  The former Cougar QB had another chance to show he's got what it takes to play in the NFL and he did not disappoint. Getting the bulk of the offensive plays and once again playing behind the majority of the starting offensive line, Max Hall not only led all passers, but was one yard shy of leading all rushers in the game as well.

In last year's Super Bowl, Austin Collie caught 6 passes for 66 yards including a 40 yard grab for the Colts, while teammate and fellow BYU alum Aaron Fransisco (now with Carolina) added two tackles on special teams.  Across the NFL in 2009 former Cougars made their presences known.  After the jump is a look at the upcoming 2010 NFL Season and what we can expect from our former 'Boys in Blue.'

"Thanks to the success of our programs, we’ve had a difficult time finding teams willing to come to LaVell Edwards Stadium to play us. We believe the combined resources between BYU and ESPN are already paying off – we’re still working out the details, but we have agreed to a six-game deal through 2020 with Notre Dame football that will bring the Fighting Irish to Provo."

[BYU] which will begin competing as a football independent in the 2011 season, today announced a new 8-year deal with ESPN to televise Cougar football on the sports leader’s family of networks. ESPN has agreed that any BYU games it doesn’t select may be televised live on BYUtv."

Game Preview: Washington vs. BYU

Finally, the first week of college football has arrived.  We are only three days away from kicking off the 2010 BYU football season.  This season comes on the heels of one of the most outrageous summers in college football, and especially BYU, history.  But now, at least for four months, the madness will subside and we can get back to what we enjoy most of the fall, BYU football games!

BYU's first opponent is the Washington Huskies.  The Huskies are coming off of a 5-7 season and a 7th place finish in the PAC 10.  But don't let the 2009 statistics fool you, this team is on the rise and could open a lot of eyes across the country in 2010.

BYU's going to be the target of a lot of hate over the next three months, but they've got a buddy in the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick says BYU is smart to move to independence and that the two schools will battle each other frequently on the football field.

BYU is on its way to making a new home in the West Coast Conference - so who are they exactly?  The WCC is currently made up of 8 schools from California, Washington and Oregon, all of which are private and maintain religious affiliations, like BYU.

Currently the WCC competes in 6 sports for men; baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis and 7 sports for women; basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer, tennis, volleyball.  What many don't know is that schools that were previously in the WCC include Fresno State, UNLV and Nevada.

After the jump (and below the poll) is a school by school break down of the current members of the WCC and a glimpse at what BYU is getting itself into:
