BYU Football Recruiting Spotlight: WR Josh Weeks
On signing day, I said I'd highlight two 2012 commits who I felt might be worthy of as much anticipation as the two commits in the Rivals Top 250 (Tanner Mangum and Troy Hinds). One of them was linebacker Butch Pau'u from Anaheim, CA. The other is today's spotlight, wide receiver Josh Weeks.
Gonzaga Comes to Provo Looking for Revenge, Leaves Even More Sad
The last place these schools met was the second round of the 2011 NCAA tournament -- a game in which BYU embarrassed Gonzaga with a 22 point victory behind 34 points from Jimmer Fredette. Gonzaga entered last night's game relishing the opportunity to exact revenge on the now Jimmerless Cougars, and BYU appeared especially vulnerable coming off unheard-of consecutive home losses -- the most recent being one of the ugliest nights the Marriott Center has seen in a long time.
However, a loss was not to be. BYU controlled nearly every aspect of the game and came away with another double-digit victory over a respectable opponent, preserving its slim hopes of an NCAA bid.
New Mexico St game set for Nov 24
Amidst some rumors that BYU was trying to buy this game out, New Mexico State released its schedule today, and BYU is slated to visit Las Cruces on 11/24.

Podcast 55: Debating the big issues in Cougar sports
In Episode 55, Adam moderates a discussion between fellow VTF writers Matt Mangum and Zach Bloxham regarding all the biggest issues facing the BYU athletic program. They start by talking about WCC officiating and whether Brandon Davies is overrated by BYU fans. They flip flop next on conference realignment, and answer the question of whether you can trust anyone (spoiler: probably not). They finish with a discussion on who the back-up QB will be in 2012, and who the starter will be in 2013. All this and much more, including Adam's failed attempts at political humor. It's all available here (below the jump) or on iTunes (subscribe there!). Follow the podcast on twitter: @byu_riseshout.
BYU Recruiting Luncheon Report: Most qualified class ever
"How refreshing to have an elite quarterback be thankful to receive an offer from BYU, and not entitled." Just one line delivered by Bronco Mendenhall at the Cougar Club signing day luncheon, but it sent a wave of energy through the crowd of Cougar boosters.
Bronco was talking about new signee Tanner Mangum, a top-5 quarterback prospect from Eagle, ID. I'm sure Bronco would deny it, but it sure seemed like a not-so-subtle dig at a certain QB that just transferred away. Makes me think there's more to this Jake Heaps story than we all know.
Nevertheless, Bronco used Tanner Mangum as an example of the perfect BYU recruit: One who wants the whole package.
