"A long time ago at BYU, quarterbacks wouldn’t go on missions ... I’m not sure whether Jake is planning to go or not, we haven’t had that conversation."
"BYU has perhaps more college ready talent in this class than ever before. The overall class with the likes of QB Jake Heaps and DE Bronson Kaufusi headlining is impressive and should ensure future success for the Cougars' program."
Brigham Young is the clear-cut winner among BCS programs with two weeks to go until national signing day. The Cougars wrestled Sporting News Top 100 quarterback Jake Heaps away from Tennessee, Notre Dame and in-state Washington, and that kicked off what looks like a potential top 25 overall class--BCS included.
Fellow top recruits like WR Ross Apo, who was previously committed to Texas, and four-star recruits like DEs Kona Schwenke and Bronson Kaufusi, are just as big for BYU as Heaps. This truly is one of the school's top classes ever, and there are 28 players lined up to sign."
You know, I’m just ecstatic about getting going at BYU. I remember as soon as my season was over, that next Sunday I couldn’t sleep knowing that I had school the next day because I was thinking about it. I was excited about the future and BYU and was wondering what I needed to work on now knowing I had to be ready for college life and for what Coach Omer was going to put us through. I’m just really excited about it. Me and Ross [Apo] are going to participate in the Army All-American Bowl game and then the next week I’ll be taking my finals. So I will be down at BYU, I think, around January 16th or 17th. I’m very excited about it and it’s almost here."
