A Bonus to the Cougars Win over San Diego St.

It was a nail biter but a great win today.  I plan on going more in depth tomorrow on my post game analysis (after I watch the game about 4 more times) but for now I needed to get a few things off my chest, to end a great day.  Reading the chatroom garbage that was connected to the blog this week along with all the radio shows here in San Diego spoon feeding SDSU a win in this one had me really riled up for another Cougar victory over the Aztecs in conference.  It may not have been a battle between juggernauts, but it was yet another win over SDSU...a team who decided to remove BYU from their schedule from here on out even though every other year our fans account for probably half their football ticket revenue, in just one game.

I am an avid listener to the XX1090 am radio here in San Diego as I am a lifelong San Diego Padres and San Diego Chargers fan.  This week was a good and a bad week for the radio.  It was great because with the San Diego St. Aztecs taking on the BYU Cougars in Provo there was a lot of game week coverege.  The bad part is that I had to listen to guests and call ins start last Sunday with talk about what SDSU was going to do AFTER they beat BYU in Provo.  My favorite was NFL Network Analyst and former Aztec, Marshall Faulk on the radio on Thursday saying "The Aztecs are off to a great start at 3-1, 4-1 after this weekend..."  I wanted nothing more this weekend than to make the SDSU fans eat their words.

To me this felt like a BYU v Utah game.  It was a must win game for many reasons, but one of the most important in my book is that we painted a big targets on our backs in the conference after announcing our independence.  Then with a slow and depressing start it was looking like we were going to give all the MWC bottom feeders a chance to go out on top against the Cougars.  To hold off a hot SDSU team was a great win.  In their denial to play us again, it looks like we have forever had the last laugh against Montezuma and co.
