Good day, VTF followers. My name is Nick England, and I guess it’s my turn to introduce myself. I was born and raised in a small farming town in the state of Washington. When I was young, I spent a couple of summers in Orem while my mom attended BYU to get her teaching degree. Since that age, I have been fascinated with everything BYU. And even before that, I was infatuated with sports, especially baseball and football.
I always dreamed of playing baseball in college. That didn’t happen because I chose to attend BYU-Idaho coming out of high school (right after they dropped their athletics program). I went there because that was where three of my siblings were at. Later, however, I applied to transfer to the real BYU, and to my pleasant surprise I got accepted. In December I will graduate with a Spanish teaching degree, and as a certified coach.
Since I grew up in Washington, I never really had many opportunities to attend BYU games. Not being able to attend games didn’t stop my love of BYU sports. In order to watch some of the games, I would take a TV to the local chapel, and plug it into the jack that was in the primary room. There, I would watch all the games that I could that were broadcasted through the BYUtv channel before it was made available to us (we never had cable). If a game wasn't available on TV, KSL 1160 came in nice and clear, but only at night. So, with my older brother, we'd go sit in the car and listen to the games.
Once I started attending BYU, I made it a point to attend every football and basketball game. Even if it meant camping out in the cold. Now, I appreciate the chances I have to attend so many games.
Over the years my obsession has continued to grow. Some have even called it unhealthy (but so is greasy food, but it’s still delicious). BYU sports is very unique, and that’s why it’s so appealing to many. This website gives us fans the opportunity to discuss with each other the latest news and events that are happening in Provo. Join us, and let’s make this site happening again.
Also, I think I might be addicted to Mtn Dew.
