In a well-fought match, BYU rugby defeated Arkansas State 49-42 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah on Saturday night. About 8,700 Cougar fans were in attendance to see BYU claim the D-IA national title. The Cougars' scoring distribution was good as every try scored by BYU came from a different player. Shaun Davies also kicked very well in penalty kicks (3/3) and conversions (5/6) to keep the margin comfortable for the Cougars in the second half.
BYU finishes the season 17-0, and big Mikey Su'a was named championship MVP.
