Here's your morning in BYU sports! BYU gives a 2015 QB his first offer, Noah Hartsock gets an NBA workout, and a possible mystery brewing with a maybe-BYU football commit?
BYU offered 2015 QB Austin Kafentzis out of Jordan HS (Utah) late last week. The freshman led the Beetdiggers deep into the state playoffs before being injured, but his decision making and track exploits made him appealing to coaches. The offer is the very first for Kafentzis. BYU coaches operate similarly to us Mormon men. When you know it's right, you gotta propose. With the school's unique recruiting considerations, when coaches find a good athlete who can fit the culture, they sometimes offer very quickly.
Noah Hartsock was in Salt Lake for a limited workout with the Utah Jazz. While I find it very unlikely he hears his name on draft night, he would be a great camp/summer addition to any team.
BYUtv put together a nice video recapping the 2011-12 sports season.
I read an article about the Big 33 football Ohio v Pennsylvania all-star game, and found a curious name at the bottom. It lists a defensive back Connor Noe getting credit for a pass break up, and says he is committed to play at BYU. I can't find anything on the kid. Anybody have anything on him?
UPDATE - Thanks to @Bronco4Prez for tracking these down -- A blog about Noe's high school on Cincinnati.com lists him amongst a class of signees from his high school. He also found this photo from the same site's Flickr account showing Noe signing his LOI. Could we have another Adam Ah Ching on our hands?
BYUtvsports.com has launched a sweet Gameday page. Right now it has countdowns for Media Day events.
