The #3 BYU Cougars took down the #1 UC Irvine Anteaters 3-1 tonight in the Smith Fieldhouse.

BYU has the best crowds in America when comes to men's volleyball. No other program matches the huge crowds that BYU draws and thousands of boisterous fans were on hand tonight to cheer the Cougars on. It is no coincidence that BYU is a perennial top 5 team as well. This year's squad started the season ranked #2 but dropped to #3 after a loss to Lewis last week.

The 2013 BYU team is led by two superb hitters in junior POY candidate Taylor Sander and freshman uber-recruit Ben Patch. The two of them give BYU a pair of devastating cannons on the edges. Combine them with some excellent middle play by senior Russ Lavaja and and solid contributions by the rest of the squad and BYU is going to be a serious contender for another national title this season.

If you haven't seen any matches in person or on BYUtv yet I highly recommend you give it a try. Some impressive athleticism and exciting play is on display every time the Cougs take the floor.
