BYU, Arizona agree to trio of football games

The Cougars are coming to Phoenix.

USA TODAY Sports

Brigham Young University and the University of Arizona have agreed to a three game football series beginning in 2016. The announcement was delivered in a unique way: via Google Hangout. The games will take place in 2016, 2018, and 2020.

  • 2016 -- BYU v. Arizona at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona
  • 2018 -- BYU at Arizona
  • 2020 -- Arizona at BYU

The Cougars will play two neutral site contests in 2016 as the Y is already scheduled to play West Virginia at Fed Ex Field in Landover, Maryland. BYU and Arizona completed a home-and-home arrangement in 2005 and 2006, with both teams winning on their respective home field.

Five games are now slated for the 2016 season, all away from LaVell Edwards Stadium. In addition to the neutral site games against Arizona and West Virginia, roadies against Utah, Boise State, and Cincinnati are scheduled.

Kudos to Tom Holmoe and company for scheduling a BCS opponent and getting a home and neutral site game in return. This is simply all BYU can leverage at this point. A great day to be a Cougar!
