BYU 2nd with Brekkott Chapman, who ends recruitment with verbal to Utah

With BYU his second choice, the Roy High star will stay in state to play for the Utes.

Shortly after revealing his top three schools, Roy High (UT) 2014 forward Brekkott Chapman tweeted today his verbal commitment to the University of Utah.

Chapman recently surprised at least a few by telling Utah newspapers his top three were Utah, BYU, and UCLA. Common sentiment was that BYU was no longer in consideration among a slew of new Pac-12 offers as well as pursuit from Gonzaga.

But a source very close to Chapman, who said prior to most of the Pac-12 offers that Utah had the advantage, told Vanquish The Foe: "No one will ever know how hard it was for him to say no to BYU. [BYU was] second."

Chapman joins recent in-state commits Jordan Loveridge and Parker Van Dyke, marking a bright future for Larry K and the Utes. Chapman is ranked in ESPN's Top 50 for the 2014 class.
