According to a Tweet from Deseret News reporter Brandon Gurney, 2014 Murrieta, California OLB Tyler Cook has committed to play for the BYU Cougars. Cook checks in at 6-3, 215 pounds and reportedly runs a 4.51 40. The talented outside linebacker is graded as a 3-star in the 247Composite rankings. Cook grades out as the 87th best player from the state of California, the 71st best outside linebacker in the country, the 970th best player overall in the country in the Composite rankings.

Cook, a lifelong Cougars fan, is a particularly nice story as he'd planned to announce his decision today, his parent's anniversary, as both are big BYU fans as well. In addition to the offer from Bronco Mendenhall and company, Cook had offers from Kansas State, Arizona, Miami (FL), and Boise State.

Though it's not clear at this time if Cook will serve a church mission before reporting to begin his eligibility, he'd told Scout.com in February ($) he'd consider the wants of the team he committed to before deciding his football playing future.
