After losing last week to Long Beach, the #17 ranked Cougars dropped a heart-breaker to #19 Denver.  BYU and Denver played a defensive battle up until the last 3 minutes of the game.  With 2:59 left in the game, Nicholette Digiacomo put Denver on the board with the only score of the game.  The loss drops the Cougars to 5-3-1 while the Pioneers increase their record to 8-1-1.

The First Half

Both teams had chances in the first half but neither could get the ball into the net.  Ashley Hatch had the best shot for the cougars but Denver goalkeeper Amelia Davis ensured that the Cougars remained scoreless.  The Cougars controlled the tempo of the game and had seven shots to Denver's four but Davis showed strong and ended the half with four saves.  Erica Owens had a few punch outs but only needed one save to keep the Pioneers off the board.

The Second Half

The Pioneers took over in the second half as they had four shots on goal in seven shots and the final one made it through.  The assist on the goal went to Kristen Hamilton.  The Pioneer defense held BYU to only three shots with only one of them being on goal.  The game was physical as the Cougars ended up with 12 fouls to the Pioneers 11.
