BYU sports links: Senior Bowl practices, the two best football teams in Utah

We check in on how Kyle Van Noy and Cody Hoffman are performing down at the Senior Bowl and what Pro Bowl style rosters would look like for the state of Utah's college football programs.

The college football season ended a few weeks ago, but this week has been full of news for any of you looking to get your BYU football fix during the off-season. BYU seniors, Kyle Van Noy and Cody Hoffman, are in Mobile, Alabama this week showcasing their skills in front of NFL scouts and coaches in preparation for Saturday's Senior Bowl.

Kyle Van Noy has been getting a lot of love from writers covering Senior Bowl practices. NFL.com's Dan Greenspan was particularly impressed with Van Noy's versatility in the 4-3 defense being run by the South. Van Noy has played time at the Mike, Sam, and Will linebackers and defensive end this week.

Cody Hoffman's reviews from Senior Bowl week have been a lot more mixed. WithTheFirstPick.com's Pete Smith went on Cougar Sports with Alema, Jake, and Ben yesterday and had a lot of good things to say about Hoffman. Unfortunately RealGM's Jeff Risdon wasn't nearly as impressed with Hoffman's play.

In non-Senior Bowl news, the Deseret News took a page out of the NFL's book and "drafted" Pro Bowl style teams to put together the state of Utah's two best college football teams. Team Deseret and Team News featured 18 Cougars including Taysom Hill, Jamaal Williams, Cody Hoffman, Kyle Van Noy, and Uani 'Unga. BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall was also drafted as the head coach of Team News.
