BYU sports links: Tourney chances, Van Noy first rounder

If you stayed up as late as I did watching that game, you're probably not really awake yet. Here's some BYU news to help you coast into your Friday morning

Could KVN be the next Charger?

Here are some quick links for a lazy Friday morning.

First, at least one sports writer thought BYU would make the NCAA tournament before last night's triple overtime debacle in Portland. Dylan Cannon lays out five things that BYU must do to make the tournament, and leads us to believe that he thinks it will happen. Cannon wasn't alone though, ESPN's Joe Lunardi had the Cougars in as an 11 seed in his latest bracketology update. Although over 63 different brackets published on the web, BYU is seeded in just 20 of them (with an average seed of 11.4 over those 20), making BYU one of the first four out. Unfortunately with last night's loss, the Cougars likely blew their NCAA Tourney hopes and should fall out of the 20 bracket projections that had them in.

Finally some great news on Kyle Van Noy, who has continued to make his presence known at practices for the upcoming Reese's Senior Bowl. Optimum Scouting believes that KVN could go in the first round, and currently has him being taken 25th by San Diego. If that actually happens KVN would join fellow Mormon, Manti Teo (who was drafted out of Notre Dame in the second round last year) on the Chargers who are looking to strengthen their pass rush. KVN just got ranked as the 68th-ranked prospect on SB Nation's big board, which puts him as the 8th-ranked linebacker.
