BYU football recruiting: Early signee Nick Kurtz

Nick Kurtz, a 6-6, 205 pound wide receiver from El Cajon, California, signed his letter of intent to play for BYU back in December. He most recently played at Grossmont Community College in California. He is a junior college transfer so he has two years of football playing eligibility at BYU. In 2012 he had 49 receptions for 697 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is a three-star recruit and has a player rating of 88 according to 247sports.com. Kurtz had interest from LSU, Ohio State, USC, Missouri, Utah, Ole Miss, and West Virginia among others. He was offered by Oregon, USC, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Texas Tech, and Utah State to name a few.

BYU fans have heard about Nick Kurtz for quite some time now. He is expected to come into BYU and take over and attempt to fill the shoes of Cody Hoffman. He will be an immediate contributor alongside Ross Apo and Mitch Matthews. He's a great get for BYU and we're lucky to have him. We'll be looking forward to hearing his name a lot over the loud speakers this fall. He comes into a wide receiver group that includes 12 players, three of them being seniors. With a young receiving group, he will be asked to guide by example and will have plenty of opportunities to show the young guys how to play.
