Finding home games deep into the season when other schools are in conference play can be tricky for BYU, which may lead to games (and road trips) beneath their stature. That may be the case here, as BYU has signed a four game series with UMass that will go from 2016-2019.
The Minutemen climbed back to the FBS level in 2012, and have won exactly two games over those three years, going 2-26. While the squad has shown some fight this season, playing Colorado and Vanderbilt tough, they still remain one of the worst teams in FBS college football, and with their future conference affiliation in peril, with the team leaving the MAC without a new home lined up, their short term college football future isn't bright.
The games do give BYU an FBS home game when they might otherwise face an FCS squad, and will give Cougar fans in New England a rare chance to see the Cougars in person.
SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN
The game on October 8, 2106 will be held in Provo, as will the game scheduled for November 18, 2017.
The next two games (November 10, 2018 & November 23, 2019) will be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. For those that fallow the NFL, you will recognize the stadium as the home of the Patriots.
This series will be the first between the schools in football and the broadcasting details will be released at a later date.
