What to watch in College Football: Week 5

These are five major games with upset potential. Will they have national title implications?

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

1. #11 UCLA at #15 ASU: Thursday, Sept. 25th 8 PM Fox Sports 1

UCLA entered this season loaded down with talent and unbelievably high expectations. However, they have been very underwhelming through the first 1/3 of the season. ASU will give them their first real test, and if the Bruins pass it, it will vault them right back into the national championship discussion.

Prediction: ASU wins 35-24

2. Arkansas at #6 Texas A&M: Saturday, Sept. 27th 1:30 CBS

The Aggies have averaged 55.3 points per game so far, and their QB Kenny Hill is looking better than the guy he replaced. This game against the Razorbacks will be a strong barometer for how good this team really is, and if we are still unsure we can watch them in the next three weeks play #14 Mississippi, #10 Ole Miss, and #3 Alabama.

Prediction: Texas A&M wins 41-28

3. #16 Stanford at Washington: Saturday, Sept. 27th 2:15 FOX

This is Stanford’s chance to reassert itself following its hard fought defeat against USC two weeks ago. They can definitely overcome a loss to USC and earn their way into the Final Four, but they need to march through a tough PAC-12 schedule to do it.

Washington wins 28-27

4. Oregon State at #18 USC: Saturday, Sept. 27th 8:30 ESPN

The Trojans face the same scenario that Coach Shaw and the Cardinal face. They are still very talented and well coached, but they pretty much need to run the table through the conference if they want a shot at the Final Four. Oregon State is undefeated thus far and looks to make noise of their own in the conference.

Prediction: USC wins 35-28

5. #1 Florida State at North Carolina State: Saturday, Sept. 27th 1:30 ABC/ESPN2

Many analysts (and bettors) are losing confidence in the Seminoles as they seek to repeat as national champions. They held on by the skin of their teeth against Clemson, but NC State may not be so kind. The Wolfpack carry a 4-0 record into this game as they go for the huge upset.

Prediction: FSU wins 31-24
