Last year the BYU Cougars and UNLV Rebels agreed to move their game in Las Vegas to a "later" date. Well, that later date has been set and the Cougars know that instead of playing in Vegas on November 15th, 2015 they will be making the trip on November 11th, 2017. The game was originally moved so that BYU could finalize a visit to Arrowhead Stadium in a neutral site game against the Missouri Tigers.
With the date set for 2017 the Cougars have now finalized 11 of the games on their schedule. This could very easily change, as we have seen with past and current schedules, but there is also a chance that it could continue as planned. Currently the schedule is littered with six home games, one neutral site game, and four home games. With a little imagination you can see the Cougars scheduling two more home games to bring the total to six, and taking advantage of the extra game that the NCAA allows for when traveling to Hawaii.
IF the schedule were to stay the same the Cougars would travel to Houston to take on the LSU Tigers in a neutral site game, drive up to Logan against the Utah State Aggies, fly out to Starkville to take on the Mississippi St. Bulldogs, head over to Greenville to take on the East Carolina Pirates, skip over to Fresno for the Fresno State Bulldogs, slip into Vegas for UNLV, and then vacation over to Honolulu to take on the Hawaii Warriors.
Scattered amongst those travels you would see the Cougars take on the Utah Utes, Boise State Broncos, San Jose State Spartans, and Massachusetts Minutemen at home. Throw in a couple more home games and you have a 13 game schedule that includes big names, give me games, and the fans favorite schedule without a bye.
Regardless of what happens the Cougars still have work to do with their 2017 schedule and it will continue to be fluid so don't blink or you might miss another announcement.
