Day two of fall camp is in the book for the BYU Cougars and a few developments came out that are of interest. Although these developments are interesting, keep in mind that it is DAY 2 of fall camp! Much will change over the course of the next few weeks as we find out about injuries, starters, suspensions, etc. but if nothing else it helps us keep track of what is going on now on our favorite team. On to the updates:
Running Backs:
Based on comments from Bronco and tweets by Jay Drew of the SL Tribune, it appears that Nate Carter has found a new role. He is also currently ahead of Adam Hine on the depth chart.
BYU's second practice of preseason camp is in the books; Anae appeared in interview room, said Alge Brown and Nate Carter are starting RBs.

Bronco compared RB Nate Carter's new role to the one Bryan Kariya took on years ago when Harvey Unga couldn't go against Oklahoma.

Quarterbacks:
Bronco was singing praises today regarding Tanner Mangum and Spencer Linton from BYU Sports Nation tweeted out this:
Bronco said Tanner Mangum's status as a QB (returned from mission in June) is "significantly" further along than he anticipated. #BYU #BYUSN
— Spencer Linton (@Spencer_Linton) August 10, 2015
Kyle Gunther from 1320 KFAN added his two-cents on Mangum:
Tanner Mangum is bigger than I was expecting & has shown great touch and accuracy at times today. Haven't seen him throw a deep ball though.
— KYLE F GUNTHER (@GuntherKFAN) August 10, 2015
In other QB news Gunther also praised and warned us about the play of Taysom Hill:
Taysom Hill just found Devon Blackmon on a monster deep route for a TD. Drew a bunch of applause here at the open fall camp practice.
— KYLE F GUNTHER (@GuntherKFAN) August 10, 2015
Taysom Hill has found senior WR Kurt Henderson on several plays today. Henderson just took a deep post route to the house.
— KYLE F GUNTHER (@GuntherKFAN) August 10, 2015
Taysom Hill has shown some of the inaccuracy we've seen at times over the years but he's probably thrown the ball 75% of the time today.
— KYLE F GUNTHER (@GuntherKFAN) August 10, 2015
Receivers:
The previous tweets also lead into the WR group as it does appear that Henderson and Juergens stood out today with others that seemed to impress Gunther and Greg Wrubell from KSL/Cougar IMG:
BYU should be plenty deep at receiver this year, with enough talent in store to offset graduation losses after this season.
— Greg Wrubell (@gregwrubell) August 10, 2015
Somebody get Mitch Juergens on scholarship. Dude is always open and making every catch. Just like last year. He's tough as nails. #ThisIsY
— KYLE F GUNTHER (@GuntherKFAN) August 10, 2015
Defense:
Brandon Gurney of the Deseret News noticed a few highlights of the defense as well with Harvey Langi and Kai Nacua getting some love:
Says Langi and Kai Nacua talk an awful lot out there and that the defense generally responds well to their talking
— Brandon Gurney (@BrandonCGurney) August 10, 2015
Bronco also said that the defense seems more enthused and might play a bit harder when Harvey Langi is in there
— Brandon Gurney (@BrandonCGurney) August 10, 2015
Special Teams:
And we can't forget the special teams. The big news from this is the Kicker Moose Bingham has left the program:
Special teams coach Kelly Poppinga said K Moose Bingham has transferred to Snow College.
— Jay Drew (@drewjay) August 10, 2015
and as for the punters..it looks a bit different from Saturday:
Bronco said punting was a "smiley face" on Saturday; it was a "frowny face" today. Assessment sparked an emoji discussion.

So there you have it. A run down of the highlights. For a ton more information you can go to the individual twitter accounts of those that were at practice as much more did go on. Hopefully we continue to see improvement as camp moves along and the season creeps up on us.
