After practice today the BYU Cougars released their depth chart heading into the Saturday game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Thanks to a tweet by Jay Drew of the Salt Lake Tribune we have a picture of it below:

For those that don't have a microscope handy, I have attached a table with the same information below. There weren't a ton of surprises with this release, especially considering this does not account for any possible suspensions. The few surprises that did pop up are easy to see. The first that caught my eye was the addition of freshman Moroni Laulu-Pututau to the 2 deep wide receiver position. He is listed as an "And" with Kurt Henderson so expect him to receive some playing time.

The next one that stood out to me is Scott Huntsman slipping in behind Fred Warner. Although he did impress in fall camp, I am not sure how many expected a walk-on freshman to get playing time at linebacker.

Another defensive surprise was that there is no Sione Takitaki. This could be because of the known legal issues, so don't read to much into it at this point. Jordan Preator rounds out the defensive surprises as he is listed as the backup free safety, and no listing as a cornerback. Most anticipated that he would start at corner, even if he did backup Kai Nacua. Reading into this one could put Preator as the starter for a suspended Nacua, and then may move back to CB when Nacua returns, but no guarantees on that one.

Finally the special teams may be the biggest surprise. Adam Hine continues to return kickoffs but there is no Devon Blackman for punts. According to this depth chart it appears that it will be either Eric Takenaka or Micah Hanneman that will take over these duties.

So there you have it, the latest update to the depth chart that Bronco said is mostly accurate. Don't hesitate to give us your thoughts in the comments below.
