BYU suffered its second one-point loss of the season last week, this time at the hands of the top 15 Boise State Broncos. Along with Coach Tyler and Coach Blanchard, Couch Coaches Cam Schroath and Alec Blomquist, who were both in Boise (along with Jess... Cam is Jess’s brother), dig into some areas that need improvement and address some things that did go well for the Cougs. Coach Tyler thinks penalties majorly killed momentum. Coach Blomquist wasn’t impressed with pass blocking. Coach Schroath thought wrap-up tackling looked much better, etc.
While we take a breather from football this week, there’s basketball that needs our attention. Boom Shakalaka happened last week, Cougar Tipoff is on Wednesday and the first of two exhibition games is Saturday, with the season just around the corner!
I literally can't even describe how happy I am to be back in the Marriott Center!!! #BYUBoom pic.twitter.com/kyIhp51AIZ

Our resident statistician Ken O’Kelley created the ultimate season preview spreadsheet and stopped by to talk about that and more. Check out the full spreadsheet for even more info. Comments are enabled, so feel free to ask Ken any additional questions or for more information on something. Seriously, someone hire him.
How formidable does Gonzaga look this year? St. Mary’s is returning their whole entire team (yikes), and Pepperdine is facing a lot of production loss. Plus, just how strong is BYU’s non-conference schedule, and what things should you be watching for there? Don’t miss this hoops preview. Let us know which player you’re most excited to see in the comments below.
Check out BYU’s season preview here.
Finally, we get to Talk of the Town where there is much to be discussed, like the Mangum flag-bearer pairing, bye week Halloween costumes to look forward to and more.
