College basketball officially tipped off this week, which means it’s officially the best time of the year! In the next eight days, BYU has one football game and four basketball games. With Thanksgiving coming up, can you guess what we’re grateful for? Watch episode 44 in the video embedded above — summary and promised links below.
Up first, Couch Coach Blanchard met up with Coach Nate Slack at the Marriott Center for a special on-location Coaching from the Couch segment in which they discussed both BYU Football’s win over Southern Utah University and BYU Basketball’s season-opening win against Princeton. Which up and coming players impressed them the most on the gridiron? How did the young Cougars on the hardwood take down the more experienced Tigers? Those hot takes and more included in the video above.

Next, Jess and Mary did some research for you on the lesser known opponents BYU Basketball is playing this week. Get to know Coppin State — a school out of the MEAC, located in Baltimore, Maryland. Get to know Chauncey Chanticleer and the story behind the unique Coastal Carolina Mascot. They also check out UMASS, with some help from Jake Welch’s infamous (and fabulous) Week 10 Power Rankings. Did you know UMASS is featured in The 6th Man? A sports comedy film from 1997.
Coastal Carolina is in town Saturday vs BYU hoops. What is a Chanticleer & how do you pronounce that? https://t.co/UMQ74DCdMw Pretty wild. pic.twitter.com/pGNMD0DAAU

BYU Hoops took to the big stage in their win over Princeton Monday, being featured in ESPN’s annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. Jess and Mary introduce a new segment called, “Tweets from Last Night,” where they compile some of the best (funniest) things people around the world wide web (and not in our fanbase) were saying about our Cougars. A big chunk of them center around TJ Haws, who one Twitter user called, “the gym rattist of all gym rats.” LOL.
TJ Haws from BYU is the gym rattist of all gym rats

As always, we wrap up this week’s episode with Talk of the Town, and the biggest news from around the BYU social mediasphere. Basketball commit Kolby Lee signed his letter of intent, but we’re still waiting on Christian PoPoola... We scored ourselves another Mangum! Yes! Abby will be coming to Provo to play basketball. Jimmer’s stat line out of China is straight fire, plus more in the video above.
So excited to announce that I'll be playing basketball at BYU!!! Thank you to everyone who's supported me through it all! Go Cougs pic.twitter.com/UybDF7QCub
