It’s week 48 of Cougs on Cougs, and BYU Football is winding down while BYU Basketball is ramping up! While the football team resumed practices ahead of the Poinsettia Bowl against Wyoming, the basketball team put together back-to-back wins against Weber State and the Pac-12’s Colorado Buffaloes, notching a much-needed quality win for its NCAA Tournament resume.
But before we get to all that, we announce our contest winners! Thank you to everyone who participated by sending in your awesome gift ideas. We share some of our favorites in the episode, so watch to see if yours was included!

After taking care of business against Weber State on Wednesday, the BYU Basketball team knew they needed a big win to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes afloat, and they delivered with a 79-71 victory over Colorado on Saturday night at the Marriott Center. Nick Emery led the way with 22 points and three steals, which a less than healthy Eric Mika still put up 17 points and 7 rebounds. The freshmen stepped up big time too: TJ Haws had a breakthrough from beyond the three point line, hitting 4-5, Yoeli Childs had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Steven Beo played a solid, active 21 minutes, including a huge three pointer to tie the game after BYU fell behind in the second half. Our very special guests on Coaching from the Couch this week, Mary’s parents Jeff and Usha Tuscano, break down what they thought went right against Colorado, and what could still improve ahead of the Cougars’ even bigger game against Illinois in Chicago this Saturday.

As always, we round up this week’s news from the BYU social mediasphere in our Talk of the Town segment, including a spotlight on a few former Cougars in the NFL, updates on some relationship statuses, and a whole series of tweets involving everyone’s favorite BYU Basketball player, Eric Mika. Good luck with finals, buddy!
