Former BYU basketball star Brandon Davies to play for Detroit Pistons in Orlando Summer League

Former BYU basketball star Brandon Davies will play for the Detroit Pistons summer league team in Orlando according to Ryan McDonald of the Deseret News.

Davies is coming off a solid season in Europe with Openjobmetis Varese of the Italian Serie A league. In 30 games with Openjobmetis Varese, Davies average 25.7 minutes, 13.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game and shot 47.2 percent from the field. Davies professional career also includes stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, and Chalon-sur-Saone of the French Pro league.

Davies joins a Pistons’ summer league team that will be headlined by the team’s 2016 first round draft pick, Henry Ellenson, a big man out of Marquette, and second round selection, Michael Gbinije. The team will also feature several current Pistons (Stanley Johnson, Darrun Hilliard, & Lorenzo Brown).

  • Saturday, July 2nd @ 3:00 p.m. ET - New York @ Detroit
  • Monday, July 4th @ 3:00 p.m. ET - Orlando Blue @ Detroit
  • Tuesday, July 5th @ 5:00 p.m. ET - Detroit @ Indiana
  • Thursday, July 7th @ 5:00 p.m. ET - Detroit @ Miami

The Orlando Summer League Championship day will be Friday, July 8th. Times and matchups for those games will be determined based on how the teams’ records during the rest of the league games.
