BYU walk-on Garrett Juergens was the second Cougar to receive a surprise scholarship from head coach Kalani Sitake on Monday according to BYU LB Harvey Langi.
I know this happened yesterday but congrats on Garrett Juergens & Parker Dawe for earning scholarships! Love seeing hard work paying off!

BYU P Johnny Linehan was the first to announce that Sitake had awarded scholarships to two walk-ons on Monday. Linehan, who is a former walk-on himself, did not identify who those players were. We found out yesterday morning that OL Parker Dawe was one of the two scholarship recipients and now thanks to Langi we know Juergens was the other.
Juergens has spent three seasons with the Cougars. He spent his freshman season on BYU’s scout team and played in ten games over his sophomore and junior years primarily as a punt and kick return specialist.
Juergens returned five kickoffs for 99 yards and a single punt for 13 yards as a sophomore. He saw more action in the punt return game as a senior returning three punts for 51 yards and two kickoffs for 40 yards. In addition to his return stats Juergens also has five tackles in his career.
The Houston, Texas native had interest from a number of Big 12 and Pac-12 schools coming out of high school, but did not receive a single D-1 offer. Juergens decided to walk-on at BYU with his identical twin brother, Mitchell who was awarded a scholarship last summer.
