According to voice of the Cougars Greg Wrubell, Tom Holmoe will be announcing future schedules for BYU basketball against in state opponents. Three future games are announced against Utah, six against Utah State and three against Weber State.

Last week Vanquish the Foe’s own Brett Hein broke the news of the upcoming Beehive Classic with these four teams at Vivint Arena. BYU fans in the state will be happy to hear that more games will be played in addition to this yearly event.

The Utes come to Provo next season in what will a big game to say the least. In 2018, the two will square off in the Beehive Classic and 2019 will be at the Huntsman Center.

BYU will play Utah State in the Beehive Classic this season and then each have a home game in 2017 and 2018 beginning in Logan. The cycle will the repeat itself starting in 2019.

Weber State will make their trip on down to the Marriott Center this season and then they’ll meet at Vivint Arena in 2017. The Cougars will the face off against Weber State on the road in Ogden in 2018.

This is good news for BYU and good news for College Basketball in general. Part of what makes college athletics great is the ability to play teams in state. Some schools in state have not valued this in recent past, hopefully this is a sign of things to come.
