Texas Longhorn Fan Perspective on Big XII Expansion

Hey everyone (if anyone is actually reading),

I just joined your site because I am compelled to explain why I hope with all of my heart BYU is to be included in the most recent expansion games. First of all, y'all have a tradition-rich program that would add a lot to any conference. Needless to say, you and everyone else already knows that BYU is by far the best candidate to join a P5 conference. It would be an absolute shame if the Big XII didn't invite BYU to join.

Currently the two powers (Oklahoma and Texas) have a political chess match going on that might keep BYU out. David Borhen, the President of OU, has a love affair with Cincinnati while the Univeristy of Texas is trying to bring the Univeristy of Houston to the conference simply because UT is being caught by UH in a legal battle (or pending legal battle) of land acquired by UT near the campus of UH. If Texas gets UH in with the big boys I'd imagine that would no longer be an issue. That leaves BYU out high and dry.

Personally, the more I've thought about it I think the conference should expand by 4 teams. BYU (the #1 option), Cincy (major market, Ohio recruiting, WVU regional rival), Houston (keeps Houston from joining the SEC down the road and shuts off a larger pipeline for recruits to go east), then UCONN (market, basketball blue blood, WVU regional rival).

That most likely will not happen. If I had to pick two, it'd be BYU and Cincy.

The difficult part is the recent news of the issues between BYU and the LGBT community. This is where I have my issues...

If you take a look at Burnt Orange Nation there is a recent piece that I am ashamed of. This does not reflect the views of the majority of UT fans. BYU is an excellent school with excellent tradition and an excellent athletic program. That is what the conference is, or at least should be, looking for. Students willfully sign the honor code and because they signed it, and damn sure know the university's position on homosexuality, know the consequences. In a time where religion is being discriminated against, I respect that the university is unwilling to waiver on their morales and values. It is not fair for the 3% to dictate so much, especially in the realm of sports, super duper especially when it comes to a PRIVATE institution. I sincerely hope BYU is the newest member of the Big XII. Your institution brings a great deal to the table and more importantly, I can't wait for UT to get some revenge.
