Cougs on Cougs: A mid-season review of BYU Basketball and a one-year anniversary giveaway

Jess and Mary celebrate one year of Cougs on Cougs with a Steve Pierce interview, Talk of the Town, and a giveaway you don’t want to miss!

NCAA Basketball: San Francisco at Brigham Young Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

Episode 52 of Cougs on Cougs is here—and it means we’re celebrating our one-year anniversary! We so appreciate you for watching and supporting our endeavor. We strive to be a unique voice in BYU sports, and we hope you’ve been entertained this past year!

We wanted to invite back our very first guest, and one of the first Cougs on Cougs supporters (he even came up with our name), Steve Pierce! He joined us for a mid-season Coaching from the Couch segment to tell us what he thinks has gone well for the BYU Basketball team so far, and what needs to improve for the Cougars to progress. We get into defensive troubles, realistic expectations, impressive performances and what the future might hold for this young BYU team. We suggest you take Steve’s advice: adjust your expectations, be patient and keep supporting this team! His mantra? “It’s okay.”

We start Talk of the Town this week with a huge honor for Eric Mika, who made the NCAA.com All-Week team! Congrats to one of our favorite BYU Basketball big men on that well-deserved honor. Other news includes a celebrity sighting at a BYU Basketball game, Jimmer’s recent Twitter hack, and a prestigious award for a former BYU Football quarterback.

Inspired by Jake Welch’s take on the #DescribeYourSeasonin5Words trend on Twitter, we share our five-word descriptions! What would you go with? There’s a lot to choose from—the new coaching staff, impressive individual performances like that of Jamaal Williams, the narrow margins of victory and defeat. Share your five words with us on Twitter or Facebook!

All you need to do to enter our anniversary giveaway for the sweet prize pack pictured below and displayed on the show is tweet us, leave a Facebook or YouTube comment, or email us (however you want to get a hold of us is fine) your favorite episode, segment, or moment from Cougs on Cougs, or your favorite thing about Cougs on Cougs. We will enter you into a random drawing—the winner will be selected on next week’s show!
