BYU added another piece to its defensive backfield with the commitment of cornerback D’Angelo Gunter. Gunter committed to BYU Tuesday afternoon via twitter:

Despite a recent official visit to Vanderbilt, the Crescent City, CA native was impressed enough with BYU to commit a week prior to National Signing Day. Gunter also held offers from Washington State and a handful of Mountain West schools.
Gunter is not LDS, so he will obviously not be serving a mission and will be enrolled in school for the upcoming season. To add a three-star cornerback that is not of the LDS faith speaks volumes to Coach Kalani Sitake’s and cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford’s ability to connect with a wide variety of recruits.
