Leading up to National Signing Day, the staff here at Vanquish the Foe will provide daily recaps of all the recruiting news surrounding BYU Football, covering everything from updates to the 2017 class to those kids in 9th grade who probably won’t see the field at BYU until 2030 once their done serving a mission.

Ah You moves back announcement to Signing Day

BYU’s top target Chaz Ah You pushed back his announcement of where he would be signing national signing day, which is this Wednesday. Ah You, who is also considering UCLA, Washington, Stanford and Utah will be making his last official visit to BYU this weekend and had originally planned to announce his decision today. Maybe he’s putting the finishing touches on a really elaborate scavenger hunt? Either way we’ll be waiting patiently.

DB Branden Smith picks up a later offer from Cal

After taking his official visit to Provo this last weekend, defensive back Branden Smith picked up another offer, this one from Cal. The three-star, two-way player out of Lancaster, CA has already taken an official visit to UCLA (unclear if there is a scholarship waiting for him there) and has an offer from UNLV. Adding a player with Smith’s speed would be a great way to strengthen this class.

2018 TE target picks up an offer from BYU

Dallin Holker, a 6’4” 225 lbs. tight end out of Lehi, Utah picked up a scholarship offer from BYU today. In his junior year at Lehi HS, Holker had a monster year hauling in 105 catches for 1296 yards and 11 touchdowns. If he puts up numbers like that again next year he’ll be sure to pull in some more offers. The other two offers he currently holds are from Utah State and SUU.

BYU Signing Day, presented by Nissan?

We’re less than a week away from national signing day and it looks as if BYU has picked up a sponsor for their festivities. According to this tweet which was posted last night, signing day will be “presented by” Nissan, the Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer. Will the team announce each signee by spelling their name out in Nissan Altimas on I-15? Who knows, by a savvy move by BYU for getting a sponsor for the most important day of the off-season. Maybe it can help pay for a better sound system at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
