Merry Christmas, Cougar fans! Jess and Mary are back after a full news week: BYU Basketball easily dispatched rival Utah on the court to become undefeated state champs, and BYU Football hired a new offensive coordinator, Jeff Grimes. Christmas came early! Let’s get right into it.

In Coaching from the Couch this week, Mary and Jess re-live the incredible BYU Basketball win over the Utah Utes, who returned to the Marriott Center after canceling the game that should have been played last season. The ROC was rowdy, the sheet drop was back, and the team was in fine form as they all banded together to get that win.
The things on the “what went wrong” list this week are short, and it was difficult to choose just one thing each that went right because just about everything did. Everyone that played made significant contributions that made this a team win, and Elijah Bryant led the way with an impressive stat line, including 29 points. It was a night to remember, and Jess and Mary relished a chance to break down a win over Utah!
With Christmas less than a week away, Jess and Mary decided to make a wishlist of things they would like for (or from) the football and basketball programs. Caffeine at games was a bit of an early gift, but what would you ask for? What would you give? A healthy quarterback for a whole season, more game atmospheres like the one Saturday against Utah, and the return of the BYU Basketball team lip sync videos are on our list. Remember those? They were incredible.
Obviously, the big news in Talk of the Town this week is that BYU Football hired a new offensive coordinator, LSU’s running game coordinator and offensive line coach Jeff Grimes! Coach Grimes is familiar with BYU, having coached the offensive line here under Gary Crowton and Bronco Mendenhall. It’s exciting to have him back and in a new role, and we’re looking forward to see who he adds as position coaches. We’ll get to know Coach Grimes better in a future episode!
In other news, Colby Pearson was signed to the Green Bay Packer’s practice squad, Elijah Bryant was named the WCC Player of the Week for his dominant performance against Utah, and a new meme featuring BYU Basketball’s Jashire Hardnett is making the rounds!

Cougs on Cougs will be back with a new episode in 2018! In the meantime, enjoy your Christmas holidays, Cougar fans! Don’t forget to watch the Rose Show Tuesday at 6 p.m. MST on BYUtv, and wish Coach Rose a happy 60th birthday! Hopefully BYU football will have a full staff announced, and BYU Basketball will extend its win streak to 10 games (including a win against Saint Mary’s) by the time we get back! Merry Christmas!
