They say good things come to those who wait, and boy howdy did BYU get a good one today.
This morning Chaz Ah You, a four-star safety out of Timpview High School, signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for BYU. The talented defensive back who has a 93.21 composite score from 247 Sports held offers from UCLA, Washington, Michigan, Oregon, Stanford and many others.
Chaz (who happens to be the son of Jasen Ah You, BYU’s director of football athletic operations) is considered as one of the top recruits coming out of the state of Utah which boasts some serious talent it the 2017 class. Listed at 6-1.5” and weighing in at 200 lbs, Ah You is a savvy defensive back with incredible football instincts. Here is what ESPN.com had to say.
Possesses good length. Savvy football player who reads quickly, takes good angles and consistently gets in the right position. Aggressive in the box and is not afraid to lay the wood in run support. Has quick feet and the smooth hips to stick with RBs and TEs in man coverage. Excels in zone coverage and flashes the ability to read the QBs eyes.
There is a good chance that Ah You could see the field this season at safety for the Cougars, who lose starter Kai Nacua, and key contributors Eric Takenaka and Chris Badger to graduation. You can check out his senior season highlights below.
