Keenan Ellis, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound wide receiver prospect out of Bonita High School in San Diego, CA has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for BYU. Ellis received an offer from BYU over the summer, and verbally committed to the Cougars in October.

Ellis is a rated as a two-star prospect with a composite rating of 78.17 according to 247Sports. Ellis also played defensive back in high school, but is expected to play wide receiver at BYU. He was also being recruited by San Diego State and Washington State.

Ellis brings a much needed speed dimension to the BYU receiving corps. He made the state finals in both the 200 meters and 400 meters in California. He was also a prolific returner, and used that speed to return multiple kicks for touchdowns.

In three seasons at Bonita, he recorded 1,482 yards on 70 receptions which is an average of over 21 yards per reception. He also caught 12 touchdown passes and returned a kickoff for one more.

Ellis is not LDS, so he will enroll and be ready to play for BYU in the 2017 season.
